Announcing The Newest Outdoor Industry Event - Second Nature #10
We made it to double digits! No stopping us now.
Starting Line
We’re proud to present our tenth podcast of Second Nature. The podcast statistic everyone likes to throw around is that most people call it quits after producing four podcasts. We’ve arrived into the double digits and couldn’t be more excited to continue bringing conversations around the business of outdoor. This week’s podcast is wide-ranging, starting with an unpack of all the wisdom we got from Rebecca Rusch in last week’s podcast. We hope you enjoy it!
Second Nature: Episode 10
In this episode, we discuss:
🎙️ Dylan and Aaron talk about the insights and lessons they learned from the Rebecca Rusch interview (Episode 9) and how they would go about applying those lessons directly to their careers.
👟 TrailCon! Dylan and the FreeTrail crew (and partners) are launching Trail Con, an industry event that is happening right between Broken Arrow and Western States - two of the biggest trail running races in June. They will have industry panels and all sorts of other valuable presentations on June 26th. More info: www.trailconference.com
🍉 The successful launch of Dauwaltermelon, a flavor from Tailwind Nutrition (which you can try here if you want) that was developed with Courtney Dauwalter and released last year as a limited edition flavor. This year, it joins the permanent lineup at Tailwind, which is a great sign for athlete-led product development.
🟧 Camp Strava, an annual event hosted by the brand. This year they have a new CEO and some other new faces in their executive lineup. They also launched a barrage of new features to answer the calls of their consumers (dark mode, family plan, etc).
What We’re Reading
Dylan: Mountain Gazette 201 is out! We spoke with Mike Rogge in episode seven of Second Nature, and now it’s here.
Aaron: I’m re-reading The War Of Art. Especially now, at this moment where I’m going through a little transition between having a full-time job and becoming a full-time content creator, this book is the perfect kick in the butt to get everything focused.
Brand, Product, Content
Aaron brought up KWEIN By Design on Instagram for this week’s BPC. She generated incredible engagement by making designs for brands that comment on her posts, including this design for Trek!
Dylan mentioned the upcoming NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship this weekend for his BPC. The semifinal matchups are the University of Denver vs. Notre Dame and UMD vs. UVA on Saturday - both sure to be exciting games to watch this Memorial Day weekend.
