Starting Line
This week’s podcast is one we’ve been wanting to have for a while on the show: a no-holds-barred behind the scenes look at what truly goes in to becoming an athlete it today’s world of social media, content output, and everything else that is required to continue forward momentum. Amie Engerbretson was on our panel at TrailCon, and we knew she needed to join us on the podcast for an extended conversation.
Athletes In The Era Of Influence
Amie Engerbretson is a big mountain skier, director, producer, and so much more. We dig into the tension between being an athlete and having influence through content and social media. We get tactical and talk through proposals and project building, including the approach that athletes can take to develop and extend their careers - and how this approach is essentially a subsidized education for the athletes who choose to follow this path.

Show Notes
BPC: Brand, Product, Content
BPC is our closing segment, where we share our favorite brands, products we’re using, and content that we loved. This episode is loaded with tons of video content to check out - but we had a few more pieces of content to share during BPC.
❄️ Protect Our Winters: POW is the organization that Amie works with closely to make change and to harness the power of “The Outdoor State”. She has produced films with POW and supported on many other levels.
🙌 Erin Sprague on Second Nature: We were lucky enough to have the CEO of Protect Our Winters, Erin Sprague, on our podcast last year. She absolutely blew our minds, and if you missed this one when it first aired, we highly recommend checking it out now.
👀 Payson McElveen - Crossings NZ: Friend of the pod, Payson McElveen, just recently launched his third project in his “Crossings” series. His sponsor Osprey has created a landing page to preview the film, which you should definitely check out!
Thank You
We’ve got another incredible guest joining us on the podcast next week (she’s a world champion and friend of the pod, making her first Second Nature appearance) and we can’t wait for you to hear what she has to announce!
