Starting Line
Welcome back to Second Nature - we’re on episode 8 and still going strong! This week we covered a variety of topics and started thinking about what might be on the Second Nature Reading List. It could end up being a long list…stay tuned!
This Week’s Episode
Aaron returns from Europe his week with some new hardware! We talk about his experience at the YouTube office in London, then follow up with a discussion around the impact of Andre Agassi’s book “Open” on Dylan’s perspective around being a pro athlete. This week we also introduced a new segment called “Job Of The Week”. You can also check it out on Apple or Spotify podcasts, if you prefer the audio experience.
Show Notes
👟 On Running - Director of Product Strategy, Performance Outdoor: Here’s a link to the job listing for this role.
🙌 Lachlan Morton on Gravel Cycling: “It seems like the industry has this obsession with performance at the moment. If you look up cycling online now, there's so much information. Like, you need these gels and this many grams per hour and this aero equipment. It's so wild. I’m like, damn, if you were just getting into cycling now, you would think you need all this stuff just to do it, but you don't. I've got a strong need to get back to basics in a non-competitive way, so I can just enjoy riding my bike."
🎿 Here’s the article from Alterra’s CEO speaking about accessibility and the real cost of running a ski resort.
Brand, Product, Content
Aaron’s entry for this week’s BPC was an app called CityMapper - an invaluable tool for traveling anywhere in the world. It’s like Google Maps but for all the different modes of transportation you might need to take in order to get from point A to point B. Oh, and it’s free.
Dylan’s entry this week was Malbon Golf, a disruptive golf brand that is bringing a new style to the latest wave of people picking up golf as their sport. The PGA posted some insane stats on the growth of the sport, so expect to see more brands bringing fresh style to this space.
What We’re Reading
We’ve heard your call to build out a Second Nature reading list, but in the meantime, here’s a link to the Andre Agassi book that Dylan is reading right now.
