What 500 Weeks Of Writing Taught Mario Fraioli
And a few of our highlights from this week's TrailCon event...
Starting Line
As Dylan would say: “HOLY SMOKES!” TrailCon was an absolute blast, we had such a great time with everyone, sharing conversations, insights, hugs and high fives. It was so fun to connect with friends from the podcast, from the Slack channel, and from the industry at large. That was a special week - and a big thank you to everyone who put energy into making TrailCon an incredible experience.
What 500 Weeks Of Writing Taught Mario Fraioli
In 2015, Mario Fraioli launched The Morning Shakeout, a weekly newsletter about running and related topics. After recently completing 500 weeks of consecutive publishing, he's sharing his journey, experience and insights with us on the podcast. Mario talks about the balance between his coaching and content duties, as well as his ability to keep his plate clear of distractions to maintain focus.
Job Of The Week
😳 Does it get any bigger/better than this? Global Sports Marketing Manager - Running for Salomon. Work with the heaviest hitters in the sport, plus live in France.
👉 GU Energy Labs is looking for an Experiential Marketing Manager, based out of their Berkeley, CA office.
👀 Osprey’s Director of Marketing role appears to still be open - here’s the link to apply if you haven’t already.
Article Of The Week
Mario’s 500th newsletter - the article that prompted this podcast episode in the first place. A giant congrats to Mario for this milestone, 500 weeks of doing anything is insanely impressive.
Booth Of The Week
Adam Copeland of Tantrums created a booth at TrailCon that caught our attention. Instead of a standard retail-style booth, he built a classroom where “students” could take a Western States history test (each correct answer entered you into a drawing for gear). Shoutout to Matt Sharkey for scoring a B+ on the test!
Show Notes
BPC - Brand, Product, Content
Sharing our favorite brands, products we’re using, and content we have been enjoying lately. Our closing segment to the podcast, sending you off with something interesting to check out!
📕 Apple in China (book): Mario recommended a book on the impact of Apple moving their engineering and production to China, and the second- and third-order effects it created.
👨🏻🔬 Function Health: Dylan is currently testing out this platform to get more data to work with, so he can continue focusing on his health - on and off the trail!
😴 TRTL Travel/Neck Pillow: Aaron swears by this neck pillow for travel, it made a huge impact on his overall sleep in transit. Once getting 45 minutes at most on a big flight, he’s averaging in the 5-6 hour range with this one small (and extremely portable) change.
Thank You
Thanks again for all the hugs and high fives at TrailCon this past week, it meant a lot to hear such positive feedback from everyone. The stories we heard from connections being made in the slack, ways that you’ve taken inspiration from the conversations and applied it to your own lives or businesses, or even just hearing your favorite episodes - it makes all the effort worthwhile!
Thanks again for having me on the show!
Thanks for the love, Aaron! We had the best time at TrailCon.
